Award for Excellence in First Generation Entrepreneurship

We are happy to inform that our Founder Principal, Dr.P.C.Thomas has been selected to receive the “Dr. A.C.Muthiah Award for 2010”for Excellence in First Generation Entrepreneurship.

The Award will be presented at a public function to be held at 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the 12^th October 2010 to celebrate the Founder’s Day of M.A.C. Charities - 92^nd Birthday of Dr. M.A. Chidambaram Chettiar, at Rajah Annamalai Mandram, Esplanade, Chennai - 600 108.

Swiss National Day

Students of the new batch of the Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management and Good Shepherd Finishing School were welcomed by the second year students of the Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management. A get together was arranged to welcome the new comers. We celebrate it in the form of Swiss National Day.

This get together was held on the Swiss National Day – 01 August, 2010. The restaurant of the Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management was decked in the national colours of Switzerland – red & white. The cuisine was Swiss and made by the faculty and students of the College of Hotel Management.

Crisis Control & Disaster Management

It was a special start of acquainting the students of Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management about safety in different areas. “Think of disaster, before it occurs” was the mantra of this fantastic workshop that was conducted for a period of 2 days. As responsible citizens of tomorrow the students have to be ready for anything and with this in mind, they got to learn from the resource person Mr. Srikumar Sikkari. This programme included theory as well as practical exercises. Fire extinguishers were used to put out different types of fire. The students operated the college fire engine and got to understand its capabilities. They learnt and practiced methods of rescue and recovery in case of fire accident / incident. They were certified as Disaster Recovery Representatives.

Cycling

Students of the Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management took part in a cycling expedition on 22 August, 2010. It was indeed a thrilling experience.

THE NILGIRIS OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT (JUNIOR LEVEL) AT GYMKHANA GOLF CLUB, WELLINGTON

The Nilgiris Open Golf Tournament was conducted under the aegis of Highfield Golf and Riding Academy, Coonoor at the Wellington Gymkhana Golf Course on 28 August, 2010. Competitions were held for Under–13, Under-16, and Under-19 age groups. About fifty competitors from Ooty, Bangalore, Kotagiri and Kovai took part in the tournament.
